Do you sense the arrival of Spring? If you're experiencing the urge to clean and organize, it's completely normal for this season. But have you ever questioned why we love Spring cleaning and it is so deeply rooted in our nature? There are various historical references to this seasonal practice, but my favorite comes from Persian culture. It was thought that clearing out dust and clutter from one's home would ward off bad luck in the coming year. Although I don't have anything against greens or pinto beans, I prefer the Spring cleaning version of inviting luck over the American New Year traditions.
It feels satisfying to clear out all the nooks and crannies and get rid of the clutter that has built up over a busy year. Staying indoors can have health implications, though I'm not an expert on the specifics. Generally, consider the dust in the vents, the grease in the hood, and the tiny insects that probably found their way into the smallest spaces to keep warm during winter... you get the idea.

This is an excellent opportunity to rearrange your furniture and refresh the energy in your home. Not only might there be cobwebs and
forgotten items lurking under the couches, but changing the layout can often improve our mindset and how we perceive our living spaces. I rearrange my furniture almost weekly, but definitely every couple of months. Before you judge me, let me explain. I function better internally when my surroundings are organized. Clutter and mess around me can almost shut my brain down completely. Seriously. I become angry, depressed, unmotivated, and unable to function as an adult. In elementary school, I would come home, tidy my room, make my bed, and spray a pleasant room fragrance before starting my homework. You might think that sounds like nonsense, but it's true. I've always been, and still am, a bit peculiar, and I'm okay with that. Every piece of furniture I own has been in at least four different spots in my home this year. That might be a bit extreme, but I encourage you to at least move the sofa and get rid of those grimy gummies from 2018.
Here are some of my top Amazon picks to assist with spring cleaning, now that I've got you considering the dirt between the window sills and the screen ;)
